60+ locations, 15 instructors, 1 karate family

ISKC is different from the rest

We’ve been teaching karate in the Chicagoland area since 1979 — and while a lot of martial arts schools come and go, we’ve stuck around by keeping things simple, affordable, and focused on what really matters: great instruction in a safe, welcoming environment.

Here’s what makes us different:

  • Low Prices, No Contracts
We don’t believe in locking people into long-term commitments. Our pricing is straightforward and affordable — no surprises, no pressure. Sign up for a session to see how you like it and go from there!

  • Safe, Local Park District Locations
All our classes take place in trusted park district facilities, so you know exactly where you're going and can take classes close to home.

  • A Whole Team of Instructors
With over 15 experienced instructors, your child (or you!) will learn from a variety of teaching styles and perspectives — way more than what you’ll find at a typical one-person storefront dojo.

  • Over 40 Years of Experience
We’ve been doing this a long time — since 1979 — and we’re proud of the community we’ve built. Our program continues to grow because we care about our students, giving back and developing future leaders in the community.

Improve fitness, confidence & focus with karate

  • Pre-Karate (4 - 6 years old)

Ages 4 to 6 are important years for physical and mental development. Karate training for young children aids in improving gross motor skills, balance, and muscle tone. The class structure will support concentration and learning how to follow instructions. To enhance what is being taught, there will be a variety of games that reinforce new skills while keeping class a fun experience.

  • Youth Karate (7 - 14 years old)

Karate promotes total body fitness, so students aged 7 to 14 will look forward to increasing strength, endurance, and coordination. This age group faces challenges such as bullying and peer pressure, and by instilling self-confidence karate helps with learning how to respond. In addition, youth students begin training in aspects of self-defense. Martial arts in general are great for those students that would prefer an individual activity over a team sport.

  • Adult Karate (15 years +)

Adults will be engaging in a physical activity that increases strength, improves flexibility, and reduces blood pressure. Karate is the ultimate total body workout that provides the benefits of aerobic and anaerobic exercise, and helps with dealing with stress from day to day life. Adults can sign up themselves or with their children in our Parent/Child programs.
